COLD LAZARUS are a six-piece Melodic Death Metal ensemble hailing from Colchester in the east of England. United by the desire to forge a unique hybrid of dark atmospherics and thought provoking metal, they have sculpted a distinctive style of their own.
The band was formed in early 2005 by Tom Brooks and Phillip Ian Primmer (PiP), the latter having spent many years promoting the local metal music scene with his website (www.essexmetalscene.com). Quickly enlisting Elle Torry (guitar), Mark Royce (keyboards) and Xavier Lett (bass guitar), the fledgling band immediately embarked upon the writing process.
By autumn of the same year, the band had accomplished a full and stable line up by recruiting drummer Stevo McGreary as a permanent member, having hitherto relied on session drummers.

Pip: Voice
Tom: Guitar
Elle: Guitar
Stevo: Drums
Xav: Bass
Mark: Keyboards
Drawing influence from ‘Old School’ British Heavy Metal and NWOSDM, PiP is a capable and versatile vocalist. The Interweaving twin guitars of Thrash inspired Tom and classically trained Elle combine seamlessly with the bass work of Xavier, himself a founding ex-member of RE-BIRTH.
Mark (ex ENTWINED, PRIMARY SLAVE, CRIMINAL) brings a further dynamic to the sound, though his subtle keyboards never dominate what is essentially a guitar driven band. Stevo completes the line-up; his fusion of metal, rock and groove-based drumming styles form the backbone of COLD LAZARUS.
Lyrically, Cold Lazarus aim to express the malcontent of a society in the throes of urban decay, exploring themes of misery and the gritty reality of life in the 21st Century.
Though still in the relatively early stages of their development, COLD LAZARUS hope to further refine their sound and are currently financing their own promotion with a string of planned live shows. Their self produced ‘Ere the Sun Rises demo is available online at the COLD LAZARUS myspace page.
